My Pipo X7 Review
Hi folks so iv also jumped on the pipo X7 band waggen.
Had to try this little device as its a true mini pc powered by an Intel Atom Bay Trail processor intel with Windows 8.1 Bing OS, and office 365 Personal, one year subscription once windows is activated.
Iv just recived this box from geekbuying & the packaging was perfect as normal,
Geekbuying rely no how to transport there product without damage arrived via DHL to the UK
I only had to pay £3.85 DHL charges :-)
PiPO X7 Specifications
Windows 8.1 with Bing & Office 365
The box includes
pipo X7 unit
Power addaptor
Warenty card
NO hdmi lead so you need to buy one
First imprestions are very good it looks great & feels quality made,I like the design of it too made from a strong Aluminium case witch will be great for keeping it cool so i dont think we will be getting any over heating problems, Also on the bottom & sides of the case here is plenty of venterlation holes.
When you first turn on the device you should go through a few steps to set up the pipo, like you do when you buy a new pc langwidge, time, Microsoft account witch will activate windows ect,Once your all set its time to play. The boot time on this thing is Truly AMAZING for windows its between 15 & 17 seconds,Thats once i had stopped it from asking me to put my user name & password in (windows 8 thing) easy bypassed though i see no reason for me to keep typing that in as it will never leave my desk.
After i had set it all up i updated windows via windows update. There was quite a lot of updating do be done, witch once installed took another 3GB of space,I then installed kodi (runs perfect by the way) & activated office that took me down to 13GB of space left out of 23.5GB..Yes your thinking why 23.5GB when it should be 32GB! the recovery partition taks up 5.5 GB & windows 8.1 itself must take up the remaining 3GB.
Im new to windows 8 coming from windows 7 im not too keen on the look of windows 8 metro desktop,so i installed Classic Shell www.classicshell.net/ to give me more of a PC feel like windows 7 thanks to rrileypm for this tip.External Samsung hard drive of 1TB works fine powered by the pipo,XBMC Kodi is working well for me,but im no expert with Kodi i watch films via navi-x thats about it 720 & 1080 are playing fine.USB logitec c270 webcam works fine.
For geeks YES you can enter the BIOS!
when you start the pipo x7, press the Del button on keyboard, and then it will go to BIOS Setting
Many questions have already been asked & answered about this device so please take a look hear & have a good reed up at freaktab's rrileypm [Developer Review]
